Tania Patterson graduated with a Craft Design Diploma in Jewellery from Unitec in 1989. Since then she has established her own studio and worked full time as a jeweller, exhibiting in group and solo shows throughout New Zealand.
Tania works mainly in silver but often combines this with copper, titanium, wood or stone. Moving parts and mechanisms have been a feature of her work - brooches with handles to wind, wheels to turn or buds to open....and always with an element of surprise. She says that she particularly enjoys designing and making work with another dimension to it - the unexpected - work that the wearer can interact with.
